The Carnation 1 Plan by Fry Design Co. is a 2,000 square foot single-story barndominium house plan with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on a 50-foot by 40-foot footprint.

The Carnation 1 wears the modern elevation. A low-pitch standing seam metal roof runs the length of the home in dark charcoal, carried over warm horizontal siding and black-framed windows, with the roofline extending out to shelter a 50-foot covered porch on clean square posts. It is a quiet, contemporary exterior that sits well on a lake lot or open acreage.

Inside, the open floor plan puts a 20-foot by 25-foot living area at the center under vaulted ceilings that run end to end, opening into a vaulted kitchen and dining area with a huge walk-in pantry alongside. A private office works equally well as a home school room.

The split-bedroom layout separates the master from the two secondary bedrooms, both of which have private entrances. The master carries his and her walk-in closets and a bath with a large walk-in shower. A 14-foot by 8-foot laundry room has its own exterior door, which keeps the dirt and grime of the outdoors contained to that space, with ample room left for a dog wash and more.

Outdoor living runs to 400 square feet of covered front porch and a 168 square foot rear patio.
